This spring Oriana is presenting a lovely classical event for the residents of San Benito County. Not only are they performing the beautiful GLORIA by Vivaldi and several other classical pieces, they will be accompanied by a small orchestra of four stringed instruments, an oboe and a trumpet. The magnificent mezzo-soprano, Patrice Houston, who sang with Oriana for their Christmas program, will also be one of their guest soloists. This will be the first time the residents of Hollister and San Juan Bautista will be able to experience both vocal and instrumental classical music on the same stage. Oriana is accepting new members at this time. Our first rehearsal begins on January 23, at 7:15 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, the corner of 5th and Monterey St. The membership fee is $75, which includes music. High School and college students are encouraged to join the chorale, and his/her membership fee is only $25. (Scholarships are available for all ages.) We are especially scouting for men of any age, so don’t be shy! We do not have try outs, but we do expect that all singers have had some experience singing parts.
We may have a special all-day rehearsal on Saturday, April 14th or 21st from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. More information to follow.
